Microsoft Showers Employees with Free Phones

Microsoft is giving away a Windows Phone 7 to each of its employees—yes, all 90,000+ of them. While there is no official statement from the company thus far, the world first heard the news when a Microsoft employee tweeted about it. And as you know, once those blue birds chirp about something, the rest is history.

We’re actually nodding our heads towards Microsoft’s move to hand out phones to its employees; not because we’re touched by the company’s generosity, but because we like how strategic it is.

Having its employees receive a Windows Phone 7 before its release date gives the company a chance to test its capabilities, and as the LA Times put it “it gives developers a group of users to test out their applications.”

Not only that, those 90,000 free phones will seem like nothing compared to the actual number of phones that Microsoft will sell because of all the word-of-mouth publicity that the device is going to get. That is, if all goes well, of course.
