SXSW Day 5 Wrap-Up
SXSW 2010 is upon us and the Clement & Co. staff is there to some of the geeky randomness. Kat Bollozos is trying to keep herself together long enough to do some daily wrap-ups. Day 5 has Kat a bit burnt out from all of the panels and the parties, but stoked on some of the goodies she was able to snag. Follow us @ClementAndCo for some real-time random observations.
I am seriously bummed that SXSW Interactive is coming to a close. Although I have literally been running on empty the past couple of days (Massive quantities of alcohol + Massive amount of hours logged sitting in panels – Sleep = Fatigue) I still feel as if I can plow through another week of this SXSW lifestyle. Oh well, there’s always next year. For now, how about we just do a recap of the last day of SXSW Interactive shall we?
I started the day early this time. Early meaning 8 AM. I felt I had to make up for the fact that I totally skipped on almost all my panels yesterday because I galavanted about Austin to find a financial institution. My first panel was “Geolocation on the Horizon” and it basically touched upon the significance of geolocation, and how it has progressed throughout the years. Be prepared to see more location-based applications and technologies soon my folks.
The second panel I attended was “How to Run A Server-less Business” which focused more on transitioning to Cloud Computing, the panel included executives from Yahoo! Media Properties and Rackspace (who throws awesome parties BTW). Before I went to my last panel, I decided to go to the Alcatel-Lucent lounge again because apparently my super-awesome-idea-for-an-app was chosen as a winner! I won a Bose SoundDock! Isn’t SXSW the best?!
The last panel I attended was about “Mobile Advertising in 2010: How To Pay the Bills”. I learned about all the revenue models involved in mobile advertising and how they can truly benefit your business model.
I pretty much got maxed out on talks and panels today so I decided to have a “business lunch” with some of the great friends I have met here (their names are Stuart, Matt, Karl, Jonathan, and Lonnie). I had to list their names out because they were getting tired of being referred to as “the fun-loving SXSW-ers that I met the other day”. Tonight marks the last night of partying for all of us. It will be bittersweet indeed, but like I said before, there’s always next year!
Stay tuned for wrap-up for tonight’s parties. I will also be posting some tips and tricks for SXSW, I want to make sure you guys are pros like me when you touch down in Austin. Cheers!
