Gas Saving Grandeur

There’s a new hybrid car racing its way into our environmentally conscious hearts, the new Porsche Spyder 918.  It looks like while we were busy watching the Germans win gold medals in the men’s luge the rest of the country was working on creating a 500hp, 78.4 mpg, v-8 with two electric motors.  The seven speed stick shift head-turner is equipped with four modes depending on what mood of eco friendliness you seem to be in; E-Drive for full electric driving, Hybrid mode for a gasoline/electricity combination, Sport Hybrid with some more emphasis on gas than electricity, and Race Hybrid mode when you feel like setting a new “best lap time” on your commute to work.  So next time you pull up to an egg shaped Prius at the light you wont have to suffer the judgmental glare of someone “greener” than you, but rather drive away in a car that would rival the Batmobile and even get Jay Leno excited.
