Side to Side Creativity

You’re stuck with a blank paper or empty Photoshop canvas sitting in front of you without a clue as to where to start.  What do you do?  Move your eyes side to side, of course!  Apparently, this helps the two brain hemispheres communicate and collaborate, an exercise that is conducive for creative productivity.

Brandon Schauer from Adaptive Path has made it easy to do this by way of a simple video in which all one has to do is just follow a dot across the screen.  Tests show that doing so results in “producing significantly more ideas when immediately given a creative task.”  Maybe we can get rid of all those inspiration boards and shelves of references we don’t actually ever get to?

The paranoid amongst us might also be wary that he could be trying to hypnotize the creatives out there to do his bidding – something of a graphic designer army, perhaps set to be triggered into action when “Relax” gets played or some similar cue.  Just don’t say we didn’t warn you: watch the video at your own risk.
