This week, we caught up with Marissa A. Ross to talk about the humble beginnings of her blog and how she arrived at her voice despite herself.

We have no problem admitting that we have a collective crush on Echo Park-based writer/blogger Marissa A. Ross. How can we not? Her blog, Tangents & The Times, depicts Ms. Ross as a neurotic, borderline alcoholic who reacts just as dramatically when someone steals this week’s Netflix load out as when her boyfriend dumps her. Basically, she’s a lot like the Clement & Co. staff. We’re proud to feature Marissa for We Are The New Standard, as her abandonment of stiff and traditional prose in favor of her own brand of easily-relatable, Charles Shaw-fueled blurbs reminds us all that we can ditch traditional methods in our quest to find our own unique individual voices.
