We Are The New Standard: Emilio Santoyo

Clement & Co. is proud to present We Are The New Standard, a series of short documentaries featuring visionaries who bring new ideas to well established mediums. In this installment, we talk to freelance illustrator Emilio Santoyo about his recent collaboration with Royal Elastics, art blogs and the evolution of his style.

We’ve known Emilio Santoyo for a few years now, some of us having attended the same art school that he did. What that means is that we’ve spent a ton of time with the dude during caffeine-fueled all-nighters at his studio and random warehouse parties in downtown Los Angeles where he would sneak in our booze in his comically oversized coats. Since then, Emilio has made a bit of a name for himself, having built a following with his illustration work, custom-made sandwich pins, tall can cozies, and most recently, his collaborative line of t-shirts for LA-based Royal Elastics. It’s obvious that he’s on his way up, so we’re proud — and lucky — to be able to feature him on the third installment of We Are The New Standard.
