Concept: Digital Magazines
It’s no secret that times have been tough for magazines and their fans lately. For the past year or so, our favorite periodical reads have gone dangerously thin or have disappeared from shelves altogether. While we’re all fans of the constant stream of always-current information available on the web, one still yearns for the edited, curatorial nature of magazines. Multimedia company Bonnier seems to feel our pain regarding our endless RSS streams and the looming extinction of printed mags and has developed the magazine of the future. “Designed for a world in which interactivity, abundant information and unlimited options could be perceived as intrusive and overwhelming,” their concept stresses the importance of the image-based and curative properties of the magazine reading experience and the need for a voice. While dreaming this up is great and all, if someone can get this under our Christmas trees by next year, we’d really appreciate it.
